1/6 News Bites - Takashi Miike DVD Releases, CLOVERFIELD Posters, LOST BOYS Comic Book & More



- Director Guillermo del Toro is planning what he calls a "definitive take" on FRANKENSTEIN, and is currently in the earliest stages of pre-production.

- Media Blasters has a huge assortment of Asian cinema coming to DVD in the first quarter of 2008, including RED EYE, RING VIRUS (Korea's remake of RINGU), the first film in the DELINQUENT GIRL BOSS series, the Takashi Miike's ZEBRAMAN plus his early V-Cinema BODYGUARD KIBA and FAMILY series, the ZATOICHI TV series, and the LONE WOLF AND CUB TV series.

- THE HOST 2, which is a prequel to the monstrous 2006 Korean blockbuster, is slated for theatres for 2009. Though there are few details so far, it has been confirmed there will be multiple monsters!

- So we all know that a FRIDAY THE 13th remake/re-imagining/what-have-you is in the works, but now a source inside New Line has leaked that a new NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is being worked on for 2010. This will not be a prequel. Also, there are currently no plans for a FREDDY VS JASON 2.


First trailer for the Chilean zombie film DESCENDENTS. Looks very promising!

- DC Comics is set to release a four issue mini-series detailing what happens in between the original LOST BOYS and the direct-to-DVD sequel LOST BOYS 2: THE TRIBE.
